Robert -

You've brought up some factors I've never thought of!  Seems there's no
really perfect solution if you want both close-up objects and distant
landscape to be in focus for the entire shot.

I'm fairly new to Roundshot panography, and just recently picked-up a 35/35
that I've been running test rolls through.  So far I love it, since I'm
primarily using it for Quicktime VR (my resolution needs aren't as great as
for print).

However, I have had great results with my 14mm on a QTVR rig taking 12 shots
(for 360 degrees in portrait mode) - focused to the farthest focal point of
my pano, then another 12 focused on the closer objects.  Prior to
"stitching" them on the computer, I do a lot of Photoshop work where
necessary.  My results have been pretty good so far, but was hoping to
eliminate some of that with the fixed-focus Roundshot and setting up my
panos differently... now I know that's not the answer...

Thanks for the great info - you may have saved some of us a lot of addition
head-banging!  :)
