This question is about your digital rotating camera using a cheap flat bed sensor.

How good  is the shadow detail?

I'm still researching info for building a digital Cirkut camera and it occurred to me that the dynamic range for a cheap flat bed is in the region of 2.4 which is ok for scanning a print but not too good for a transparency or "real scene". The first thing to suffer is shadow detail.

I'm wondering if I need to source a more expensive sensor suitable for transparencies?
